China still needs major investment in AI hardware and software: CATL's Robin Zeng

In the lead-up to the APEC CEO Summit 2025, Robin Zeng, chairman and CEO of battery tech company CATL, told People's Daily that technological innovation among Chinese enterprises remains in its early stages, calling for stronger respect for IP rights across society. In the AI sector, he noted, China should not rely solely on "smart ways" but must also make substantial investments in both hardware and software going forward.
